In this post six weeks ago, we had announced that H.M. Pharma Consultancy is considering a free “patent highlight” service, consisting of pointers to (and brief discussions of) very recently published medical, pharmaceutical and life science patent documents which we believe stand out from the huge amount of intellectual property documents that is pushed out by the patent offices. Well, our considerations are done… its going to happen. And soon!
Starting with January 3rd, 2011 there will be monthly postings covering highlights from the past month, with links that will take you to the respective patent document entries at esp@cenet, the excellent web user interface managed by the European Patent Office which brings IP documents from all over the world to the public. The abstract on the blog (no, not the legalistically contorted ones from the document but our own, which actually describe the content in compressed form) and our comments will also contain ample hyperlinks to illustrative external background sources. The documents will be selected from the international disclosures published by the WIPO under the Patent Convention Treaty. National versions might have been published elsewhere before — but there will be no national bias.
Please note that this free service will be provided for the public good, with no strings attached but also with no guarantees given. It is a spin-off that capitalizes on the knowledge that we gather during our routine patent work. It will not offer more than starting points for actual evaluations. The selection of course carries all the bias of our preferences (i.e., we pick what we find interesting and believe could be interesting to you), and obviously the commentaries also reflect our opinion.
Please be sure to visit here again on January 3rd… meanwhile, Happy New Year 2011!
