In our searches for existing knowledge we use not only the peer reviewed literature but also patent documents, which are a massively neglected source of scientific and technical information. In collaboration with its IT partners H.M. Pharma Consultancy develops and deploys next-generation knowledge discovery solutions. One of these projects is illustrated by our recent series of peer-reviewed papers on patenting in eye medicine, where we are currently developing a data base with a completely new, intuitive user experience.
